Lively Up Farm grows in Valle Crucis and Matney, NC. You can find our produce at the Watauga County Farmer’s Market each Saturday during the market season, and also at High Country CSA, Mountain Rooster Produce, Proper Restaurant, the New Public Ale House.

Before beginning Lively Up Farm with his wife Natalie, Matt developed the Leola Street Community Garden and also developed the area’s food recovery program. In Watauga County alone tons of non-sellable but still-edible food
was discarded annually. But people need to eat!
The food recovery program salvages this food and distributes it to the community through organizations like the Hunger & Health coalition.
Believing that cooperation and community are the cornerstone to sustainability, Matt brings this attitude into his philosophy of farming. In addition to his own farm, Matt also works with the FIG (Farm Incubator and Grower) Farm in Valle Crucis, where he serves as a mentor for young and beginning farmers, and also currently serves as Board President for the Watauga County Farmer's market.
